01
Make the offer easy to understand
A shop visit sometimes starts online: someone wants to know whether a product or service is available, what makes a business distinctive or where to find it. Nieuwe Vaart is a local specialist shop offering organic food, natural cosmetics and environmentally friendly household products. Its website brings the range and values of the shop together with practical information. M-SERV presented a different challenge: four distinct activities needed to remain recognisable under one brand, with an umbrella hub and separate online destinations. That project also includes a Shopify shop for Bottega. These examples demonstrate specific experience, not a standard package that every retailer receives.
02
A shop or a strong store page?
Not every shop needs a full online store from day one. Sometimes a clear product presentation with address, visiting information and a way to ask questions is enough. In other cases, categories, filters, a cart, payments or stock management matter. We discuss how customers buy today and what should happen online before selecting a technical solution. For M-SERV’s Italian products, Bottega received a Shopify store with a catalogue, filters and age verification. That combination makes sense when products are sold directly online. A local retailer may be better served by a simpler structure. Scope, management and any transactions are discussed in advance.
03
A story that reflects the real shop
A brand story works when it reflects what customers actually experience in the shop. For Nieuwe Vaart, local suppliers, fair trade and sustainable choices are part of its identity; those values can be explained specifically without unsupported claims. M-SERV faced the challenge of showing what makes its technical, logistics, rental and Bottega divisions distinct while keeping them connected. We gather information about the range, customers, service and tone of voice. Images, headings and product copy each have a clear role, so visitors understand a page quickly. Content is built from real business information that you can review and update.
04
Support purchases without adding friction
On a phone, visitors should be able to browse products and find practical information without zooming or searching for too long. We design navigation and pages around the main actions: browse a range, understand a product, visit a store or complete an order. Selling online also calls for clear categories, product information, checkout steps and terms. For physical shops, directions, contact and current information remain essential. We review the key paths on different screen sizes and agree who will manage product information after launch. Deciding in advance what must stay current helps prevent a visually appealing shop from becoming outdated in everyday use.
05
Keep day-to-day management realistic
A shop website changes as collections, products and practical details evolve. We decide in advance what needs to be updated after delivery and who will do it. If your team wants to edit products independently, we choose an administration setup suited to the catalogue size and available time. For a smaller specialist shop, a clear range with useful categories may work better than a complex store structure. For ecommerce, we discuss who maintains product images, prices, stock and delivery information. We do not promise sales volumes; a website is one part of your sales activity. A thoughtful handover helps your team avoid relying on support for every change and keeps important information from becoming outdated.
06
Bring the shop experience to mobile
A store visit that begins on a phone leaves little room for detours. Visitors need to understand what kind of shop this is, what it offers and whether to order online or visit in person. We give important routes a logical place and keep product or service information readable on smaller screens. Images should explain products or atmosphere, not merely decorate; categories help organise a range when needed. For a physical shop, a tap-to-call number or directions can matter. For online sales, we make the path from product to order clear. The site supports browsing and buying without imposing one retail pattern on every business.
